Now in Formation · Expressions of Interest Open
A structured credit internship, in the making.
We are designing the Gallantree Summer Analyst Program — envisaged as a 10-week immersion into the work of building Australia's next generation of structured credit. We are opening expressions of interest now from penultimate-year students at QUT, UQ, and Bond University so we can shape the program around the right cohort.
The Program
Real work, real ownership, from day one
The best summer programs in global finance programs share a simple idea: put high-potential students inside the live business, give them meaningful work, and let the work prove what they are made of. We are working on our first intern program.
You will sit on a real desk, own real projects, and present real work to real clients and capital partners. You will learn how structured credit actually comes together in Australia, being the people, the paperwork, the pricing, and the platform behind it. You will leave with a portfolio of work you can point to for the rest of your career.
Four Streams
Pick the desk. We will teach you the craft.
Credit & Capital Markets
- Sit with the credit desk on live structured credit transactions
- Build cash flow models, review term sheets, stress-test deals
- Shadow origination, syndication, and investor conversations
Fixed Income & Investments
- Work on portfolio construction and secondary market analysis
- Contribute to investor reporting and market commentary
- Build research on sectors, issuers, and capital structures
Platform & Engineering
- Ship real features on the Gallantree credit operating system
- Work across TypeScript, Python, and data pipelines in production
- Pair with engineers on review, testing, and release
Risk, Compliance & Operations
- Review credit risk frameworks, policy, and regulatory artefacts
- Support fund operations, reconciliations, and investor onboarding
- Own discrete projects that land in the live business
Who Can Apply
Open to students at Queensland Universities
We are a proudly Queensland firm. The program is designed for penultimate-year students at three universities we believe produce the strongest commercial and technical talent in the state.
Queensland University of Technology
Open to penultimate-year students from QUT across finance, accounting, data science, and software engineering. Strong fit for the Bachelor of Business (Finance) and dual degrees.
The University of Queensland
Open to candidates from UQ in the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Economics, and Bachelor of Advanced Finance and Economics (Honours). Strong fit for students pursuing the CFA pathway alongside their studies.
Bond University
Bond's accelerated three-semester year means we run an off-cycle intake to match. Open to students in the Bachelor of Finance, Bachelor of Actuarial Science, and the Bond Business School's combined degrees.
How It Will Work
From expression of interest to first day on the desk
Step 01
Register your interest
Submit the EOI form with your details and a short note on why you want in. We are using this round to shape the program around the right cohort.
Step 02
We share what we are building
As the program takes shape we will come back to you with structure, timing, and selection details so you can decide if it is for you.
Step 03
Initial conversation
When applications formally open we will invite suitable EOIs to a 30-minute conversation with the team to talk through background, motivation, and a short commercial case.
Step 04
Assessment & program start
A half-day assessment at our Brisbane HQ for shortlisted candidates, followed by offers and a 10-week summer program with structured onboarding and live desk rotations.
The Profile
Who we look for
We hire for trajectory, character, and craft. Grades matter, but the story around them matters more. Tell us what you have built, what you are reading, and what you would do with a seat at the desk.
Penultimate-year students
Final or second-to-last year undergraduates, Honours candidates, or first-year postgrads at QUT, UQ, or Bond.
Strong academic record
A competitive GPA, ideally with coursework in finance, economics, data, or engineering. We read transcripts carefully, not just averages.
Commercial curiosity
You follow markets, read the FT or the AFR, and have an opinion on where credit is going. We care about what you are curious about.
Ownership mindset
Past evidence of running something yourself: a club, a business, a research project, a side build. We hire for trajectory and initiative.
Craft and care
Attention to detail in everything from a spreadsheet to a short email. The smallest artefacts tell us the most about how you work.
Team-first operators
Low ego, high standards. You raise the bar on the people next to you and you enjoy the work you're doing while you do it.
FAQ
Questions we hear the most
Where is the program up to?
It is in formation. We are using this expressions-of-interest round to gauge demand and shape the structure around the right cohort. We will be back in touch as soon as the program firms up.
Will the program be paid?
Yes — our intent is to pay summer analysts at market-competitive rates for the full duration of the program. Final terms will be confirmed when the program is formally launched.
When will the program run?
The current plan is a ~10-week summer intake aligned to the QUT and UQ summer break, with consideration for an off-cycle intake to suit the Bond University calendar. Timing will be confirmed.
Do I need to be a finance student?
No. We expect to recruit across finance, economics, law, data science, engineering, and mathematics. What matters is commercial curiosity and the ability to learn fast.
Will there be a pathway to a graduate offer?
That is the intent. We expect the program to become a primary feeder for our graduate roles, with return offers for strong performers — subject to our hiring needs at the time.
Where will the program be based?
In person at our Brisbane CBD headquarters. The value of the program is the proximity: sitting on the desk, overhearing the calls, and being close to the work.
Can international students register interest?
Yes, provided you hold a valid Australian student visa with work rights and are enrolled at QUT, UQ, or Bond.
Help us shape it.
The program is in formation. Register your interest now and we will be back in touch as the structure firms up — and well ahead of the first cohort opening.
